Photo Essay: An Afternoon at the Pasig Church
Some of my favorite Philippine street scenes take place outside one of the many historic churches. Like here at the 434 year old Pasig church in Metro Manila. People of all walks of life come to say a few prayers, and then leave to go about their daily business. Vendors set up small stalls selling everything from flowers, candy, peanuts and toys. As at all churches in the country, one can see a cross section of daily Philippine life on full display. Modern, busy life is all around, but in many ways, it’s a scene that hasn’t changed much over the many centuries.
